[discussion_vu] [Tips for Computer] Websites Does not Open in Google Chrome, Opens in FireFox or IE

Google Chrome is a fast new web browser from Google and has become my primary web-browser for past sometime. Sometimes we face this problem occasionally that it does not open some page at times and gives an error like :

The error says

DNS error – cannot fine server.

Oops ! this link appears to be broken.

This may happen when the site we are trying to open is up and running and opens in other web browsers like Firefox, IE, Opera etc.

Sometimes restarted my DSL router assuming that it may be bad internet connection causing this problem, we also checked the DNS settings, but they seemed fine.

This problem is because of a setting of Google Chrome called the DNS-Pre-fetching which will fetch the IP addresses of all the links on our current webpage so that when we click any of these links, it can save time on DNS resolution. In some rare instances, pre-fetching of DNS may fail, which cause this DNS error.

To fix this problem, we simply need to turn off this setting by following these 2 simple steps.

1. Click on the settings at the top right corner of the Google Chrome browser and click option.

2. Click on the "Under the Hood" and uncheck the option which says "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance", press close button.

After turning this feature off, our page load time will increase very slightly but it will not give us DNS errors if the site we are opening is up and running.
