ایک مرتبہ ایک بہت ہی گناہ گار، اپنے زمانے کا مانا ہوا فاسق و فاجر شخص ایک جنگل کے قریب جا رہا تھا کہ اس نے ایک آدمی کو دیکھا جو اپنے سامنے زمین میں ایک سوکھی ٹہنی دباے بیٹھا تھا اور الله کی عبادت کر رہا تھا، اس گناہ گار آدمی نے پوچھا تم کیا کر رہے ہو؟
اس نیک اور پرہیز گار بندے نے بتایا میں سالوں سے دنیا سے دور اس ویرانے میں الله کی عبادت کر رہا ہوں، جس دن میری عبادت قبول ہوگی اس دن یہ ٹہنی ہری ہو جاے گی اسطرح مجھے پتا چل جاے گا. اس گناہ گار کے دل میں جانے کیا آئی وہ بھی زمین میں ایک سوکھی ٹہنی دبا کر بیٹھ گیا اور عبادت کرنے لگا.
تھوڑی دیر بعد کہیں سے ایک آدمی کی مدد کی پکار آئی اور پکارنے والے نے نقاہت بھری آواز میں پانی مانگا.
دونوں نے سنی ان سنی کر دی، آواز دوبارہ آئی، تین چار مرتبہ کی پکار کے بعد گناہ گار نے نیک شخص سے کہا میں تو ابھی بیٹھا ہوں، تمہیں کتنا عرصہ ہوگیا ہے تم ذرا اٹھ کر اسے پانی تو پلا دو، میں ابھی ابھی بیٹھا ہوں اٹھنا نہیں چاہتا.
اس نیک بندے نے گناہ گار کو ڈانٹ کر کہا میری عبادت میں خلل نہ ڈالو میری ارتکاز ٹوٹ جاتا ہے.
جب مدد کی پکار مسلسل آتی رہی تو گناہ گار سے رہا نہ گیا، اس نے اپنی جگہ چھوڑی اور پانی پلانے چلا گیا، جب تھوڑی دیر بعد واپس آیا تو اس نے دیکھا اس کی ٹہنی ہری ہو چکی تھی، اور اس نیک بندے کی ٹہنی ویسی کی ویسی ہی تھی.

اگر آپ کسی کی مدد کرنے کی استطاعت رکھتے ہیں تو پھر سوچئے مت، نجانے ہمارا کون سا عمل الله تعالیٰ کو پسند آجاے اور ہماری بخشش کا سبب بن جاے
