پھرتے ہیں کب سے دربدر، اب اس نگر اب اُس نگر
ایک دوسرے کے ہمسفر، میں اور میری آوارگی
نا آشنا ہر رہگزر، نہ مہرباں ہر اک نظر
جائیں تو اب جائیں کدھر، میں اور میری آوارگی

ہم بھی کبھی آباد تھے ، ایسے کہاں برباد تھے
بےفکر تھے، آزاد تھے، مسرور تھے، دلشاد تھے
وہ چال ایسی چل گیا ، ہم بجھ گئے دل جل گیا
نکلے جلا کے اپنا گھر، میں اور میری آوارگی

جینا بہت آساں تھا ، اک شخص کا احسان تھا
ہم کو بھی اک ارمان تھا ، جو خواب کا سامان تھا
اب خواب ہے نہ آرزو ، ارمان ہے نہ جستجو
یوں بھی چلو خوش ہیں مگر ، میں اور میری آوارگی

وہ مہوش وہ ماہ رو ، وہ ماہِ کامل ہوبہو
تھیں جسکی باتیں کوبہ کو، اس سے عجب تھی گفتگو
پھر یوں ہوا وہ کھو گئی ، تو مجھ کو ضِد سی ہوگئی
لائیں گے اسکو ڈھونڈ کر ، میں اور میری آوارگی

یہ دل ہی تھا جو سہہ گیا ، وہ بات ایسی کہہ گیا
کہنے کو پھر کیا رہ گیا، اشکوں کا دریا بہہ گیا
جب کہہ کے وہ دلبر گیا ، ترے لئیے میں مر گیا
روتے ہیں اسکو رات بھر، میں اور میری آوارگی

اب غم اٹھائیں کس کے لئیے، آنسو بہائیں کس کے لئیے
یہ دل جلائیں کس کے لئیے، یوں جان گنوائیں کس کے لئیے
پیشہ نہ ہو جسکا ستم ، ڈھونڈیں گے اب ایسا صنم
ہوں گے کہیں تو کارگر ، میں اور میری آوارگی

آثار ہیں سب کھوٹ کے، امکان ہیں سب چھوٹ کے
گھر بند ہیں سب گھٹ کے، اب ختم ہیں سب ٹوٹ کے
قسمت کا سب یہ پھیر ہے ، اندھیر ہے اندھیر ہے
ایسے ہوئے ہیں بےاثر ، میں اور میری آوارگی

جب ہمدم و ہمراز تھا ، تب اور ہی انداز تھا
اب سوز ہے تب ساز تھا ، اب شرم ہے تب ناز تھا
اب مجھ سے ہو تو ہو بھی کیا ، ساتھ ہو وہ تو وہ بھی کیا
ایک بے ہنر، اک بےثمر، میں اور میری آوارگی
