Dear Brothers & Sisters

Assalaamu Alaikkum Wa Rahmathullaahi Wa Barakaathu hu

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi wa sallam) has asked us to observe I'thikaaf on
the last 10 days of Ramdhaan.  Please note that the Prophet (Sallallaahu
Alaihi wa sallam) has specified the number of days as TEN. It cannot be 9 or 11.

We  wonder how anyone can ascertain the LAST 10 days of Ramdhaan
without knowing when the month ends.

The Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) have started I'thikaaf on
20th day of Ramdhaan from Fajr in some years as well as from Fajr
on 21st day of Ramdhaan in many years.  But the number of days spent in
I'thikaaf were EXACTLY 10 days except when  observed once for 20 days.
In Sha'baan also when it was observed, it was exactly 10 days.

How he (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) observed it for exactly 10 days ????
It clearly shows that from the moon-phases of the first week itself the Prophet
(Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) was able to  ascertain whether the present month
was of 29 days or 30 days.  If the months were to be started only after seeing the
hilaal, the exact 10 days cannot be achieved.

More over, since the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) used to start I'thikaf
from Fajr and not at Magrib, it is  also establishes that the 24-hour period in Islam
starts at Fajr and not at Magrib as believed by the majority.

Those who have been observing the moon phases, know very well that Ramadaan
1434 ends on Tuesday, 6th August after 29 days and that the Eid is on Wednesday,
( 7th August).   Hence, they can start observing  I'thikaaf from the right day,
ie., from  Fajr of Sunday (28th July) which is the 20th day of Ramdhaan  and
complete the specified number of days ie., EXACTLY 10 days.

Those who insist on the hilaal to appear in order to start the month may not be
knowing, in advance, whether a month has 29 days or 30 days.

If someone, among those who insist on "seeing" the hilaal starts observing
I'thikaaf on 21st day and the month happens to be of 29 days, he will be observing
it for only 9 days !!

On the other hand, if someone, among those who insist on "seeing" the hilaal starts
observing I'thikaaf on  20th day and the month happens to be of 30 days, he will be
observing it for 11 days!!

In both cases he is making changes on what has been ordered by the Prophet
(Sallallaahu Alaihi wa sallam) thereby committing a Bid'ah.  NAUDUBILLAH.

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi wa sallam) and the Sahaba (RA) very well
knew about the duration of each month as they were observing the phases and
as directed by Quran (2:189) were fixing their dates according to the moon phases.

Anyone, any layman, an Ummi can acquire this knowledge if he observes the moon
phases continuously for 3 or 4 months.

The following will serve as check-points:

-  The moon will be almost half on 7th day and will be at meridian (overhead) at Magrib.
-  On full moon day, moon will be rising from the East and sun will be setting at West
almost simultaneously and on the next day morning, moon will not set even at the time
    of sun-rise.
-  The moon will be almost half and at meridian (overhead) at Fajr on the 22nd day.

The rate at which the moon grows, in the first quarter,  can tell whether the month
is of 29 days or of 30 days.  We do not want sophisticated instruments for measuring it.
Even our fingers are enough. Almighty Allah's religion, Islam, is so simple and can
be followed correctly without any burden.  But, Iblees makes it look like very complex
by creating wassuvas in the hearts of the muslims.  We should seek refuge in Almighty
Allah from the temptations of the Cursed one, Iblees.

We would like to ask the following to those who insist on seeing the hilaal in order
to start the new month:

"How will you arrive at the correct day of starting I'tikaaf so as to observe it
for exact 10 days  without knowing, in advance,  when the month ends?"

We request all to keep watching the moon, at Fajr time for the remaining days
of Ramdhaan.

On Tuesday (30 July), the moon will be almost half and be seen over-head at Fajr,
which shows that the date  is 22nd day of Ramadaan and that this month started on
Tuesday (9th July) and those who have started the month on Wednesday have lost
a day's fasting and those who started it on Thursday have lost 2 days fasting.

On Wednesday (31 July),  the straight line will cave-in a bit giving the shape of a
big crescent with distinct horns.  This shows that the next Wednesday
(7th Aug 2013) will be the first of Shawwal 1434.

Please note that on whichever week-day the moon loses its shape of half in the
last quarter and forms  the big crescent, that week-day of the following week will be the
first of new month. If it happens on a Monday, the following Monday and if it
happens on a Friday, the following Friday will be the First day of the new month.

So, simple!!  Any Ummi can read the correct date and start the new month on
the correct day.

People claiming extra knowledge make it complex by adding their own theories
of sunset-moonset difference, visibility curves,   conversion of Conjunction time
in UT into local times, misinterpretation of hadeeth etc thereby totally confusing
all , including the Ulema.

On Monday ( 5th August) you can see "al urjoonal qadeem" (Quran 36:39) on
the Eastern sky, very thin and very close to the horizon which assures us again
that the 1st of Shawwal is on Wednesday (7th Aug).

Brothers !  Please understand the Signs of Almighty Allah. Please ponder over
His Signs.  If one does not think about and understand His signs, one will be like
cattle , no worse than cattle, says Quran.  Beware.

We request all the brothers and sisters who have started fasting from
Wednesday or Thursday (10th  or 11th of  July) to celebrate the Eid on Wednesday
(7th August) and to repent and compensate the lost days by fasting after Eid.

We, Hijri Committee of India, have done our duty by warning and advising you
about the correct day of Eidul Fitr and if you still insist on fasting  on  Wednesday
(Eid day -7th August), once again, we warn you that fasting on the Eid day is haraam.

Let not Iblees / ego create obstacles in accepting the Truth.

May Almighty Allah help us in understanding HIS Signs and may HE keep all of us
in the Right Path . Aameen

Wa salaam
