English Translation of Al-Quran
[26].Surah Ash-Shuara [The Poets]
Ayat 224. As for the poets, the erring follow them,
Ayat 225. See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong, with lies) in their poetry?
Ayat 226. And that they say what they do not do.
Tafseer of Ayat 224 to 226. And the Poets, It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: The Poets: to be read along with the exceptions mentioned in verse 227. Poetry and other arts are not in themselves evil, but may, on the contrary, be used in the service of religion and righteousness. But there is a danger that they may, be prostituted for base purposes. If they are insincere ("they say what they do not") or are divorced from actual life or its goodness or its serious purpose, they may become instruments of evil or futility. They then wander about without any set purpose, and seek the depths (valleys) of human folly rather than the heights of divine light. Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- And that they say what they practice not?-
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar".'
[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 26, Hadith # 6306].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shuara Ayat 225."See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong, with lies)" . Siddiq (veracious) and Kadhdhab (liar) both are adjectives of intensive degree. That is to say, the words stand respectively for someone whose truth has become his second nature; and in the opposite case, one is a liar who is in the habit of telling lies. As one acquires a reputation in this world for his good or bad deeds similar is his position before Allah. One who is ranked among the truthful with Him is entitled to reward, and if one is a liar, he has to suffer retribution for it. This Hadith provides incentive for truthfulness because it is a source of every good deed and contains a warning against lying as it gives rise to all kinds of mischief.
