[discussion_vu] Forensic Analysis Workshop

Forensic Analysis
March 18-20, 2013
Introduction:

As the complexity of the technology increases, so is the way to detect compromise and prevent attacks becomes more difficult. Now a days, most of the malware released in the wild are smart enough to bypass firewalls and evade antivirus applications installed on our machines. To determine and investigate not only a compromised machine, but also malicious activities from a disgruntled
employee as an example, we require a specific skill set to verify these incidents
and propose specific actions.

Course Objective:

The goal for this class is to equip participants the

knowledge required in

performing forensic analysis. From creating

snapshots, analyzing current memory

states to preserving artifacts, students will know

how a forensic investigation

takes place on a real world scenario. Our lab will

also be a playground for our

participants in analyzing attacks on compromised

machines which will gives them

an edge in today's IT security demand for such skills.
