[~>VU-P!nD!<~] How to get good grades in semester system

You are finding it difficult to study in semester system due to certain reasons.

I am sending some tips to score good GPA in semester system which are as under;

You need to complete the requirements of the degree program. There are no shortcuts; you have to earn this degree by hardworking. Most of the students find it difficult when they switch from annual system to semester system.

But don't worry! You can easily handle it by following the guidelines given below;

1. Study on daily basis and avoid any days off. Always watch lectures and take your own notes from the lectures. Keep putting the notes on side for revision over the weekend and near to mid/final exams. If you find any difficulties, do ask questions on MDBs and also consult books and related material.

2. Start working on your assignments/quizzes the day they are given by the Instructors. Don't wait till the end. Anything can happen. By just scoring well in assignments and GMBS, one can secure 20% marks. Don't loose them.

3. Try to achieve best possible grades and do not worry too much about the duration of the degree program.

4. Manage your courses according to your energies/abilities. If you ever find that out of six courses, one or two courses are difficult to handle due to any reason then drop them and concentrate on the remaining courses to score good GPA. The dropped courses can be taken at later stages i.e. in upcoming semesters. While practicing such thing only precaution is to seek guidance from your teacher / program coordinator that if you drop any "abc123" course, would it effect your course selection in the next semester or not.

I am sure that if you follow the above given instructions you should be able to improve your CGPA.

If you would follow the guidelines given above you wouldn't even ask for a gap between exams. In semester system, gaps between the papers are not given. You all should already be prepared enough to attempt the papers.

Another thing has been observed that while attempting the papers most of the students do not read the questions carefully thus they fail to attempt the questions in full. Therefore, you are all advised to read the questions carefully and attempt all the possible parts asked in the questions.

[~>VU-P!nD!<~] How to Make Your Study Schedule

How to Make Your Study Schedule

http://www.vustudents.net

Dear Students,

There is lots of Guidance and tips provided by our instructor as well.....if you see your Subject>course website > overview....

...Well I'm pasting it here...

Study Approach

  • Watching a video lecture is compulsory.
  • Not only memorize but also understand the concepts thoroughly.  You must learn application of concepts.
  • Do spend at least 2 hours on a lecture to have a better understanding:
    • Half an hour for reading lecture handouts
    • One hour for watching video lecture
    • Half an hour for self-preparation of notes for your reference
  • Complete your work on daily basis to avoid any problems.
  • Time management is essential. If you're given a quiz, don't procrastinateget started the same day you get the quiz. Otherwise you'll have to face users' load on the server near the due date.
  • In exams, always write "to-the-point" answer for every question. "Time management" is more important than writing long stories.
  • Do visit your LMS on regular basis to be in touch with latest news about your course.
  • Post your lecture related problems only on MDB and do not send through e-mail because such questions will not be answered through e-mail.

==============================================-==-=-=-=-=-

Now Tips From my Side ....

1. Always do past Quizzes with reference provided on http://www.vustudents.net ...and try to learn the concept of "why this option of mcq is true?" ....and search it in handouts...and capture the key concept behind that mcq.

2. For quick Revision you can go through the   Lecture   Power   point   slides   provided in   your LMS>Course Website.

3. Do lots of Past papers before and during exams....mostly MCQs come from the past papers.

And For Current & Past papers, Quizzes & Stuff...please visit

4. Don't rely on your work ... Always perform Salatul Hajat before going to attempt a paper...and surely Allah will make your paper easy for you...

And if you get Excellent Grades then do remember me in your prayers.

Passing Criteria, Grades & GPA Explanation

By

http://www.vustudents.net

To pass a particular subject you have to get

(Assingments+GDBs+Quizzes)+ Mid Term collectively = 20 % at least     (collectively)

(Note:- you will not be pass if you get 20% only in midterm....and zero in Assingments+GDBs+Quizzes....Because collective marks are not 20%)

             +

Final Term = 20 %   at least

             =

And OVER ALL Percentage Should be at least 40% .To pass a course.

To get a Degree you need to earn at least 2.25 CGPA

Grades, Grade Points and Grade Point Average (GPA):

(i)                           Grade and Grade Points:

Grade of a course is awarded by teacher, recorded as evaluative and their symbols/letters used are listed below; whereas quality of achievement in a course is measured as Grade Point, that is, points per course hour assigned to a passing grade, indicating numerical value of the subject grade.

(ii)                        Grade Point Average (GPA): It is widely accepted as a measure of academic achievement. GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of letter graded credit hours attempted. Each grade has a point value as follows: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and F=0. W for withdrawal and I for Incomplete may also be used.

Maximum grade point average=4.00

Minimum cumulative grade point average for obtaining a degree =2.25

D

F

(Fractional marks to be rounded to the nearest whole number)

GPA of a semester is calculated as: multiply each grade point you receive by the number of credit hours for that course, add up the totals, and then divide by the total number of credit hours taken in that semester.

Cumulative Grade Point Average: Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the weighted mean value of all grade points earned by enrollment or by examination in courses at VU.

(Explanation: GPA and CGPA include the number of credit hours at VU for a letter grade even if a grade of "F" was earned).

The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) will be calculated on the basis of the following formula:

CGPA = Sum (Credit Hrs for course X Grade Point obtained in the course) / Sum (credit Hrs)

With the sum being taken over all courses taken by the student with the specification that repeated courses shall be counted once only.

(Explanation: If a student repeats a course, it will only be counted once towards the grade point and that will be calculated in the CGPA).
